Facilitators and hindrances to farmers’ participation in production of farmer-learning videos in central Uganda: a thematic analysis

Videos can complement extension services provision by improving dissemination of agricultural information to farmers. However, for videos be effective, they need have relevant video content. This study assessed enablers and hindrances farmers’ participation in FLV production based on a coffee FLV. Identifying farmers an is essential developing strategies that optimise their produce FLVs aligned contexts. A qualitative case research design was employed. Data were collected through focus group discussions, key informant interviews in-depth interviews, analysed thematic analysis guided the Activity theory analytical framework. The established attributes especially competencies accomplish assigned tasks production, motivations, salient participation. other related how process organised, which included availability adequacy requisite resources, existence clear guidelines FLV, utilisation pre-existing relationships, skilfulness experts field officers, specificity roles. limited interactions among actors, differing expectations, time constraints major Hence, should provide opportunities competences training, offering technical support, providing rehearsals build confidence.
